Reclaiming Roots

Curated by: Nithya Guthikonda, South Asian Youth Initiative
Afro-American Cultural Center, Yale University  | April 2nd - April 7th, 2025

Reclaiming Roots reflects upon connections to cultural origins, family traditions, and memory that inform the evolving South Asian diaspora. The theme prompts the exploration of layering identities and histories, and what it means to reclaim or reassert one’s heritage in a multicultural world.

Through this exhibition, we hope to inspire a reclamation and celebration of one's roots. The exhibition showcases stories by showcasing works by internationally renowned South Asian artists across mediums, in collaboration with students from the New Haven Betsy Ross Arts Magnet School, and Curatorial Assistant at the Brooklyn Museum, Indira Abhisakroon.
